Joe Gillingham has been hard at work getting the former Joe Gosek supermodified ready for the upcoming season. With just a little over two weeks for the Midwest Supermodified Series presented by CMC Trucking opener on May 12th at Sandusky Speedway, Gillingham has announced who will be driving the number five super. With sponsors TNT Fab, Smith Top Notch, and Adkins Glass Joe will be putting Danny Shirey in the seat for the 2018 season. Joe Gillingham said, “Danny didn’t have a ride and he has driven my car in the past. We had a lot fun together and seemed to work well with each other. He will not be available for the race at Lucas Oil race so I am hoping to put Sondi Eden back in the seat.
Danny, who last raced a super in 2016, is equally excited. “I’m ready to behind the wheel again and have fun. I’ve driven for Joe in the past and was always a great time him and the guys no matter what the finish was so when Joe contacted me to try it again, that was the first thing that came to mind for me.” The goals for Danny for the upcoming season are to take race by race. “As a driver, I need to relay good information and make the right changes and hopefully the results will show. I’m excited to see how this first year of MSS will work out. I feel like it’s going in the right direction and hopefully more teams will see this and help support the series.
